Lectures and Training

2008 Crane & Rigging Workshop

2DM Associates president David Duerr, P.E. (ret.) conducts lectures and training sessions on various aspects of heavy lifting and rigging. Past lectures have covered below-the-hook rigging, lifting with telescopic hydraulic gantries, barge-mounted mobile cranes, multiple-crane lifts, and mobile crane support (calculation of crane loads, design of mats, and ground bearing pressure evaluation). Lectures can be tailored in both content and time to fit a client's needs. Talks have been given for construction industry groups, individual companies, and for civil engineering students.

Fundamentals of Rigging Engineering

Industrial Training International (ITI) of Woodland, Washington, launched in early 2015 the first and only comprehensive online program in rigging engineering. David Duerr, P.E. (ret.) is one of the instructors in this program, teaching courses on load spreading under mobile cranes, below-the-hook lifting devices, and telescopic hydraulic gantry systems. Detailed information about the program can be found on the ITI web site.
